I can still remember the first time I was introduced to the Oneness Blessing, it was at a Tony Robbins Seminar, he had learned how to give the blessing himself after witnessing a huge healing in his wife.  His wife was born with severe challenges with her equilibrium, in cars she would get sick, in plains even worse, and it was so hard to travel any where.  They tried everything but it wasn’t until someone told him about the Oneness blessing that all the changes occurred.  Up until this point Tony Robbins had little desire to try one of these spiritual things but after seeing his wife’s transformation he quickly became a big believer.

So at his event many blessing givers went through the isles giving blessings and for me it was a powerful begginging to a lot of changes I was going to go through in my life.  Since that time my husband Dr. Dan Ardebili has traveled to Fiji to go through the training to be a blessing giver, and we have been able to bring it to our friends and family.

So you may be wondering, “What is the Oneness Blessing?”  Allow me to explain.

The Oneness Blessing, through Grace, is a direct transfer of intelligent sacred energy which causes the heart to open, heals relationships, quiets the chatter of the mind, opens the doors to higher states of awareness and initiates a process of Awakening into Oneness where there is no longer a sense of separateness. All that remains is the awareness of reality as it is — the joy of being fully present in the moment. Whatever path of spiritual awakening you are on will be supported. This gift is for all of us, no matter our belief systems.

Together, we are raising the level of consciousness globally.

We begin with ourselves and through Oneness Blessings the ripple effect goes out to all of mankind. As consciousness is raised we can create together love and compassion for all, allowing the effects of the Oneness Blessing to flow out to all life on the planet and beyond. Our specific goal is to help raise the level of consciousness of our local communities. This will create a new-found compassion flowing in the hearts of our residents–which will in turn effect humanity as a whole. As Gandhi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” World peace does not happen outside of us. We have to be the peace we wish to see in the world.

The Oneness Movement is not affiliated with any religious or spiritual belief.

Experienced practitioners give Oneness Blessing–the transmission of divine intelligent energy–by placing their hands on a recipient’s head for a minute or so. The effects are cumulative, and can enhance physical healing; generate greater intimacy in relationship; promote material well-being, and, most significantly, may result in a spontaneous and effortless “awakening into oneness.”

You too can receive a blessing, or perhaps you want to become a Oneness Blessing Giver Yourself.  You can check out the Oneness University or look up people who give the blessing in your area, believe me there are always many people who give the blessing near.

Early To Bed, Early To Rise…

“Early To Bed, Early To Rise, Makes A Person Healthy, Wealthy, And Wise!”

In Kundalini Yoga and many other forms of yoga, martial arts, and meditation, we are taught to rise early in the morning.  The purpose for this is to rise in the early morning hours called “ambrosial hours” (the two and a half hours just before sunrise), this is when the sun is at a sixty-degree angle to the earth, Your world is quieter because people are at rest. It’s easier to meditate and concentrate before the hustle and bustle of the day begins.

The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
Where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep.
~ Rumi

Deepak Chopra is always putting out books, did you know he only writes for two hours a day?  He wakes at 4am, and writes until 6am, those two hours are like writing for 4 hours because the mind is so focused.  When you wake up early your mind is focused on the reason you got up, by the end of the day your mind is focused on everything else but the reason you woke up that day.  This is why it’s a perfect time to get things done, a perfect time for a spiritual practice, this is why I wake up and do my yoga practice in those hours, my efforts are maximized.

For those of you who may be thinking, “You’re crazy, I could never wake up that early,” well, I know you can, but it takes baby steps.  If you wake up at 7 or 8am right now, you wouldn’t just start off by waking at 4am, that would be way to big of a shift for you and it will be hard to keep up.

Instead start by waking up a hour, or a half hour earlier for 40 days, then progress more until you are waking up even earlier, this will re train your body.  Also, if you are wanting to start waking earlier you will have to go to bed earlier too.  I know from experience if I go to bed too late, it is super hard to get my butt out of bed.  We must be responsible for our well being, we must be responsible for growing more each day, isn’t that what life is about!

Now that I’ve been doing this for years I love and look forward to my quiet time in the early morning.  At this point I don’t get my kids up, I used to do that but they slept through the whole thing, instead I get this time to myself.  I love how quiet and peace full the home is, and if I’m feeling really tired after my yoga practice I simply lay back down for an hour, until our children rise.

Just think about how wonderful this could be for you, but don’t take it from me, do this yourself and let me know what you experiance.

Much Love To You,

Guru Shakti

Why A Vegetarian Diet?

Why a Vegetarian Diet?

“The lion is a great meat eater, and he is called the king of the jungle, but no animal can match the elephant, a complete vegetarian, for pure strength.” ~ Yogi Bhajan

HEALTH REASONS TO BE VEGETARIAN

Aside from the moral implications of eating meat (which are many), consider meat-eating strictly from a health point of view:

  • In contrast to carnivores like lions and tigers with a short digestive tract, it is difficult for humans, with a long digestive tract, to digest meat.
  • When an animal dies, its proteins coagulate within a few hours releasing various toxins. These toxins can initially be absorbed by the liver, but eventually even the liver can’t handle them and they pollute the body.
  • Meat, fish, and eggs produce acid. If meat is the main element in the diet it will lead to acidic blood. Acidic blood is an ideal environment for the development of cancer.
  • Meat is among the greatest sources of cholesterol, which contributes to heart disease.
  • Animals raised for meat are fed a variety of chemicals and hormones that are ingested by consuming most commercially produced meats.
  • Meat takes three days to pass through the human system. For optimum health, men need to digest food within 24 hours, women in 18 hours.

TYPES OF VEGETARIAN FOODS AND THEIR BENEFITS

Sun Foods
Grow more than three feet above the ground.
Quick, lightening effect on the body and nervous system.
Examples: fruits, nuts, avocados, dates, coconuts.

Ground Foods
Grow within three above the ground.
High in nutrients, a great cleanser.
Examples: beans, rice, grains, green vegetables.

Earth Foods
Grow below the ground.
Healing properties, great energy from the earth.
Examples: potatoes, turnips, beets, garlic, ginger, onions.

Matter, including our bodies and our food, falls into three categories or qualities:*

Sattvic: Clarity and lightness.

  • Graceful, peaceful, disciplined, intuitive, sensitive.
  • Most fruit and vegetables, sun foods, and ground foods.

Rajasic: Forcefulness and will-power.

  • Active, positive, demanding.
  • Stimulating herbs and spices, many earth foods.

Tamasic: Functioning from need and instinct.

  • Impulsive, dull, angry, confused.
  • Meat, fish, poultry, eggs, alcohol, intoxicating drugs.

You are what you eat. It’s a pretty simple equation. Choose which qualities you would like to have more of in your life and eat foods from that category. This choice of diet is a fundamental tool in leading a meditative and energetic life.

For those free to live a quiet, contemplative life, a sattvic diet is perfect. For those who wish to maintain a meditative mind but also must live and work in the world, a diet consisting of sattvic and some rajasic foods is best. For those who practice demanding disciplines, like Kundalini Yoga or marital arts, rajasic foods are necessary, along with sattvic foods. For all these lifestyles, tamasic food is best avoided.

Your Personal Life Lessons!

When you were in your mothers womb you were aware of your vastness, you were aware and excited to come into this world and live a human life.  When you are born suddenly your memory of this knowledge is wiped away and now it’s your job to catch up to this awareness.

In each life time we are presented with a series of lessons that are meant for you to pass through.  In fact all relationships in your life are perfect for the lessons you need to learn.  Any challenging relationships are merely a perfect reflection of the lesson that is trying to get your attention

For instance, my father and I went for years without talking, we had a painful and resentful relationship and just couldn’t make it work.  It wasn’t until I realized the lesson that I wasn’t seeing in this situation.  I was failing to take 100% responsibility for my part in this relationship.  I was putting so much blame on him and felt like the victim.  I realized that being the victim in this situation was never going to lead to my liberation, my enlightenment in this life time.  And I have no desire to re live this un finished lesson again in my next life.

Where is there a lot of pain or hurt in your life?  Perhaps you have a relationship that is un settled, an addiction that you give into, a dream that you ignore with distraction, and so on!  Don’t you think it’s time to take 100% responsibility for your life and take care of these lessons?  Are you willing to be that courageous to take one step, not knowing how, just knowing why?  This is exactly what I’ve done with my dad, and because of this level of responsibility I now have, I know it can only succeed.

You’ve been given this life as a gift to take care of these things here and now, don’t postpone your growth and wait for another life to get out of your ignorance.  Ignorance does not mean your dumb, it simply means you ignore what you know, so let’s stop ignoring what we already know.

Much love,

Guru Shakti

Our UNschooling Adventure!

Over the past 4 years I’ve explored home schooling with our two daughters. We’ve gone from tons of structure and rules about our education to almost no structure and little rules on what we do during our days of learning.

When I first heard of Unschooling I felt intrigued by it but unsure of how it would play out if we really applied it to our lives. Over the past year I toyed around with idea but felt almost scared to give up that much control over my child’s daily education. I wondered how my girls would learn what is necessary for their lives if no one was sitting down with a text book to coach them and instructed them every day. How could I trust that they would have a natural curiosity for knowledge that would lead them to learning how to read, write, understand mathematics, and so on.

Two months ago I had a long conversation with my mom about my worries and challenges that were coming up with our home schooling, I felt like the path we were taking wasn’t working. Don’t get me wrong, we were making progress but at what cost? Every time I sat down to do school with the girls and much of the time they resisted it, my daughter Kayleen would fight me and the experience felt forced and totally un natural. My mom mentioned that I should give Un schooling a real try for the next 4 months and see what happens, and that is just what we are doing now. So it’s been two months and here is what I notice.

1. Kayleen LOVES computers and she plays them a lot. I used to worry that she was playing too much but now that I’ve stopped putting restrictions on her she takes breaks to do other things too. Also I am very aware of what she is doing on the web, she searches for things that interest her, she is still learning to read but some how she figures out what she needs to type in and types it in herself, she loves the educational games and is learning a lot of skills. She also leaned how to use print shop last week, she crops pictures, she copies and pastes them, she makes cards, she makes calendars, she does special effects, and much more. Who am I to stand in the way of her interest, who knows this may be apart of her profession some day.

2. So much more harmony in the home. I swear we barely ever argue now, I can tell they feel uplifted from mommy being so excited about the things they love to do. I no longer have to force them to do things they don’t enjoy and that is a huge relief.

3. Each day the kids help around the house. Mayleena loves to organize things, clean things, she decorates things. I used to tell her she couldn’t set up her room the way she wanted because many times it led to a big mess. I’ve stepped out of her way and let her organize the way she wants and I can see how proud of herself she is. Who cares if she has clothes folded on her book shelf, books in her dwars, pieces of fabric hanging from her bunk bed for decoration, hangers across her window for decoration and much more. She has a great eye for different styles and art. Yesterday she organized the bathroom and I won’t touch a thing, I vow to leave the bathroom the way she wants it because I know she put so much effort into it. Also Kayleen empties the dish washer every day and she doesn’t fight me on that anymore either, and a few days ago she went in her room, locked the door and totally cleaned her room, and believe me when I say she never did anything like that until now.

4. I feel so happy to be available for them. One misconception about Unschooling is the idea that the kids run the show and the parents to nothing. I understand now that Unschooling means you are there for them when they need you. If they have questions, if they need help, if they want my support they know I’m here for them. So each day I go about my day, I spend some time playing with them, doing some things I need to get done and I make sure they know I’m available if they need help with anything or want to play. Every day is different, some days they need me a lot and some days they are so content doing things on their own.

5. I haven’t felt fearful in a few weeks when it comes to my daughter Kayleen. She is 8 and reading just a little, if she was in public school they would put her in special ed just for the fact that she is 8 and not at the so called reading level for her age. I truly feel that by me not forcing the subject on her she will gain her natural curiosity to understand all the words that she sees daily. I can’t believe I put so much energy into worrying over this when she is so bright and intelligent, she just learns reading at a different pace than other kids. I’ve stopped the constant flash cards, and forceful daily lessons that drover her bonkers. Believe me we have tried almost every approach to teaching her how to read, now I see it’s time to step back, give her some space, and let her come to it when she is ready.

I know I’ve learned much more but this is just a bight out of what we’ve discovered.

Albert Einstein- “A real education begins when a person forgets all that they learned at school.”
